Experienced Optical Assistant

Mackey Opticians is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Optical Assistant to join our team! We have positions available currently in East Belfast and Portadown.

Our 14 large comfortable practices have been created and furnished with our patients in mind and our philosophy is to provide tailored, high quality optical care for our patients.
We are currently the largest independent opticians group in Northern Ireland and have been serving in our communities for 75 years.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring a smooth and efficient operation within our practice. You will leverage your expertise to:

• Assist Practice Managers and Optometrists in daily clinics, achieving testing and sales targets

• Provide exceptional customer service, address inquiries, and process orders and returns with accuracy

• Manage frame displays and merchandise stock, ensuring optimal presentation and inventory control

• Advise customers on suitable eyewear, including single vision, bifocal, and varifocal lenses, demonstrating a deep understanding of lens technologies

• Guide patients in contact lens care and handling procedures

• Oversee administrative tasks, including managing the practice management system and reconciliation of daily sales

• Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on the latest advancements in eyecare and technology

• Contribute to a positive and professional work environment, upholding company values and exceeding patient expectations

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Optical Assistant

• A strong understanding of optical principles, lens types, and frame materials.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients

• Proven sales experience and a focus on achieving customer satisfaction

• Proficiency in using computerised practice management systems and Microsoft Office packages

• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized store environment

• A highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a passion for exceeding expectations

• A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces continuous learning
