This vibrant practice has a rich history, combining Mackey Opticians with the expertise of two long-standing Belfast opticians.
Opened in August 2019, Church Lane brought together the legacies of Mackey Opticians, North Street, and Anderson Opticians. Mackey Opticians, North Street, originally known as Eyecare Opticians, was a pioneer in the industry, being one of the first opticians in Northern Ireland to have a storefront when Margaret Thatcher changed legislation, allowing opticians to advertise directly to potential patients.
They also made history by being the first opticians to offer daily disposable contact lenses to Northern Ireland back in 1987!
In 2021, the Church Lane branch welcomed another iconic Belfast name, Petticrew Optometrists. Established in 1887, Petticrew Optometrists, began as a jeweller, clock smith, and optometrist in Lisburn, Bow Street. Andrew Petticrew, a 4th generation member of the Petticrew family and a skilled optometrist, continues to see patients at Church Lane today, alongside Richard Mackey.
Leading the Church Lane team is Chris McConnell, a seasoned Dispensing Optician with over 12 years of experience across various roles, from the glazing lab to dispensing. Chris and the practice team are dedicated to providing exceptional care and personalised service to every patient.
Church Lane is still renowned for its expertise in contact lenses, particularly night lenses, making it Mackey Opticians' champion store in this area. In addition to comprehensive eye care services, the branch offers a wide range of frames, including luxury designer options, and specializes in tailored ophthalmic lenses.
The Church Lane branch embodies the spirit of innovation and dedication that has defined Mackey Opticians for 75 years.
